Dear all

We are glad to inform that the preliminary meeting held today in the Botany Dept was successful in that we could take decision on celebrating the Golden jubilee (GJ) of the department. Following are the decisions:

Golden jubilee will be on 2nd March 2012 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm

An ad hoc committee formed as Alumni Association of Botany to initiate the work. President-- Prof. K.Ramalaingeswara Rao, Vice President - Dr.V.Rajagopal, Secretary - Prof.G.Sudarsanam, Head of the Department, Joint Secretary -Prof. D.V.R Sai Gopal, treasurer - Prof. N.Yasodamma, plus four executive committee members from the department.

The bye laws of the association will be prepared by next week and registered soon as SVUBAA (SVUBotany Alumni Association) The membership form will be made ready in a week. The membership will be Rs.500/- and life membership Rs.1000/- for out going students Rs.100/-. For NRI's it will be decided in the next meeting.

Donors - upto Rs.5000/- as well wishers, above Rs 5000/ to 50,000/as patrons, above Rs.50,000/ as Chief Patrons. The funds will be in safely kept as fixed deposit in the Nationalized Bank and interest can be used for the activities of the alumni association. For the Golden jubilee the amount will be used in addition to sponsorship

Golden jubilee program will include : release of publications like the souvenir, achievements, directory ( who is who of alumni members) ; felicitations to the founders and promoters for the development of the department; reminiscences.

• The non-teaching staff also will be included
• The bank account will be opened as soon as the association is registered
• The dignitaries like the VC, Registrar will be invited for the Golden jubilee
• The Advisory committee will include the past heads of department, locally available retired alumni members, some seniors from other places within India and few NRIs who are members of the alumni association.
• The local organizing committee will include the present Head and his colleagues and students and other staff.
• The budget estimate will be prepared before the next meeting.
• The publication committee will frame the format for the souvenir and other publications.
• The information on the past students will be collected from the SVU alumni association and by publishing in the news papers in English and Telugu for circulation throughout AP with information on the Golden jubilee.
• The alumni association will institute a Gold medal which will be announced during the Golden jubilee
• The next meeting of the association will be held on 2nd November at 4pm

To day's meeting was attended by Prof.. K.Ramalingeswara Rao; Dr.A.Jayarama Reddy, Dr. V.Rajagopal, Prof. G.Sudarsanam, Prof. D.V.R Sai Gopall, Prof.N.Savithramma, Prof.Yasodamma, Dr. Ramesh, Dr. N.Nagaraj and two more faculty members.
